Violence, Desire, and the Revolutionary Body

 Event Description

A symposium that tracked some of the most provocative events now in motion across the contemporary world, from secret philosophies to outsider territories and art-forms. Through a series of fast-moving images and texts, we saw how different global regions are engaged in radical transformations of violence, desire, and the body. Topics included: Dracula’s Romanian castle, a former communist island prison in Croatia, apocalyptic photographs of wildfire and ice, rebel-mystics in Turkey, hermetic youth in Japan, a room with an illuminated cube, and the connection between thunder and Caribbean drumming.

Speakers: Craig Epplin of Portland State University; Dejan Lukic of the School of Visual Arts; Jason Mohaghegh of Babson College
